Con el objetivo de coadyuvar en los esfuerzos para garantizar los derechos de la infancia en calidad de vida y salud, el Consejo Zacatecano de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación (Cozcyt) se suma a la campaña para la detección oportuna de cáncer infantil.
Por tal motivo, el Cozcyt, a través del Centro Interactivo de Ciencia y Tecnología Zigzag, y la Asociación Mexicana de Ayuda a Niños con Cáncer (AMANC) Zacatecas firmaron convenio de colaboración para difundir entre los visitantes los signos y síntomas de alerta de enfermedades oncológicas infantiles.
El acuerdo fue signado por el Director General del Cozcyt, Agustín Enciso Muñoz; la Directora del Zigzag, María Luisa Valenzuela y la presidenta de AMANC Zacatecas, Susan Cabral. Establece que la información referente al cáncer infantil será difundida en todas las pantallas electrónicas.
Además, como parte de las actividades del Zigzag se incluirá un juego de la lotería, que contiene signos y síntomas oncológicos. A la par, el personal del área de enfermería tendrá la responsabilidad de auscultar sobre esta enfermedad a cada niño o niña que, por cualquier otro motivo, requiera del servicio.
La participación del Zigzag en la campaña para la detección oportuna de cáncer, que lleva a cabo AMANC Zacatecas, es de vital importancia si se toma en cuenta el alto número de menores de edad y padres de familia con los que se tiene contacto anualmente, afirmó el titular del Cozcyt, Agustín Enciso Muñoz.
Refirió que en los 15 años de existencia del Zigzag, el Centro Interactivo registró casi 600 mil ingresos, de los cuales la mitad fueron grupos escolares y el resto familias. Sólo en el 2019 tuvieron la visita de aproximadamente 47 mil personas. «Ese es el impacto que podemos tener entre la población», dijo.
La Presidenta de AMANC Zacatecas, Susan Cabral, destacó la participación del Cozcyt y Zigzag en este esfuerzo por garantizar el acceso a la salud y elevar la calidad de vida de la niñez, ya que la detección oportuna del cáncer infantil permite que sea curado, menor sufrimiento y bajos gastos para la familia.
Cabral refirió que AMANC Zacatecas atiende el 90 por ciento de los caso de cáncer infantil en el estado, que actualmente tienen en tratamiento a 78 menores y que en los 18 años de existencia de la asociación 174 pequeños se han curado.
Por su parte, María Luisa Valenzuela, directora del Zigzag, manifestó su voluntad de trabajar en pro de la salud infantil y de mantener las acciones para lograr que las y los niños zacatecanos sean diagnosticados a tiempo, salvando su vida y ofreciéndoles oportunidades para su futuro.
